Carrollton, Texas – Saudi-backed LIV Golf just announced a major tournament in North Texas.
The league’s final event of the season, the LIV Team Championship, will be held at Maridor Golf Club in Carrollton.
The team tournament will have a prize pool of $50 million.
The rounds will run from Friday, September 20th to Sunday, September 22nd.
“Texas is known for producing and hosting great golfers with high championship aspirations, and the LIV Golf Team Championship at Marido Golf Club will be a fantastic experience for all players and spectators,” LIV Golf Commissioner Greg Norman said in a statement.
LIV was launched in June 2022 to lure players away from the PGA with high salaries.
One of the most well-known players on the tour is SMU graduate Bryson DeChambeau, who recently finished second in the PGA Championship.
DeChambeau, who lives in North Texas, is excited about the upstart professional golf league coming to the area.
“I’m excited to play this course and compete in front of the Texas fans in the closing event. I can’t wait to bring the electric energy and fierce competition of LIV Golf to Dallas,” said DeChambeau, who will play at Crushers GC.
Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Phil Mickleson and Jon Rahm are expected to compete in the event.
