Thursday will be humid and cloudy, followed by warmer temperatures heading into the holiday weekend

Onshore flow will strengthen Thursday, increasing cloudiness and dropping temperatures. The ocean breeze is keeping temperatures 5-10 degrees below average, which may not be felt here in Santa Barbara or along the coast, but inland we will see a more dramatic drop in temperatures. Highs will warm into the upper 50s to low 60s near the coast, and inland in the valleys into the upper 70s to low 80s. Winds will pick up tonight, but unfortunately not strong enough to push the ship layer out, and clouds will thicken even more overnight.

Humid and gloomy weather is expected Friday. Stronger, colder rain clouds arrive, with more stubborn clouds, cooler temperatures, and gusty winds. More drizzle is expected during the morning commute. Please allow plenty of time to reach your destination. Visibility will be poor during the first half of the morning due to widespread fog. Winds will pick up around noon, and temperatures will remain around the same level as Thursday, or around 2 degrees.

A warm, sunny pattern will begin just in time for Memorial Day weekend. Saturday and Sunday will be partly sunny with temperatures only increasing by a few degrees. Monday and Tuesday will see more sunshine and a noticeable increase in temperatures.
