According to Shah’s complaint, the NC chief made two particularly controversial statements during his speech. First, Abdullah cited the recent tragic killing of a village headman in Herpora in Shopiyan as an example and suggested that lasting peace in the region cannot be achieved unless dialogue is initiated with Pakistan.
The BJP media chief said such statements, especially in the context of election campaigns, risk legitimizing foreign influence on India’s electoral process, a position that is unacceptable in any democratic framework. insisted.
The second issue was regarding octogenarian Abdullah’s call for an international investigation into the murder of the sarpanch. Shah argued that the demand amounted to a rejection of India’s constitution and legal system and encouraged a discourse that undermines the country’s sovereignty and institutional integrity.
Mr. Shah’s appeal emphasized that these actions are in stark violation of the fundamental principles of Indian democracy, which aim to maintain national sovereignty and territorial integrity. He called on the ECI to take prompt and appropriate legal action against his NC chief to protect the sanctity and integrity of the electoral process.
In another complaint, social activist Sheeraz Zaman from Kulgam also lodged a complaint against Abdullah with the ECI for his “anti-national” statements in Mendal.
