Four Massachusetts girls, ages 9 to 17, were stabbed at a movie theater in Braintree on Saturday evening. The suspect was detained after a police chase and confrontation in Cape Cod. According to police, the man entered the AMC Braintree 10 at 121 Grandview Street around 6 p.m. Saturday. Police said the man walked past the ticket counter and entered one of the movie theaters without paying. Police said the man encountered four young women in one of the movie theaters. “Without a word or any warning, the man suddenly attacked and stabbed the four young women,” police said. “The attack appears to have been unprovoked. After the attack, the man fled the theater and left in a vehicle. Lisa Dembowski said the victims of the Braintree stabbing were her three daughters and a friend. “I got a call from my sister and my oldest daughter told me I had to get to the AMC movie theater immediately because my daughters had been stabbed,” Dembowski said. “Honestly, I got in my car and headed right there.” Dembowski said she was met by police officers when she arrived at the AMC and took her inside so she could see her daughters. “The theater was still open, people were buying tickets, it was like… I just couldn’t believe that this was still happening,” she said. Dembowski said she explained what happened right after her daughters sat down to watch the movie “IF.” “So there were just the four of them in the theater. They had just sat down. “They had just left the concession stand,” she said. “I think the gunman came up behind them at the back of the row, the second row. My oldest daughter was leaning over to get something. He put her behind him, then my second daughter on top of a chest. And then he picked up my youngest daughter in his arms. He was laughing the whole time. And then he grabbed his friend and he ran off.” Dembowski said her oldest daughter and her friend followed the suspect outside and it was them who had to call the police. They told the people at AMC. They, AMC, didn’t believe them. “They didn’t actually do anything,” Dembowski said. Police said the young women all suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to Boston-area hospitals for treatment. A source told News Center 5 that one of the victims sustained serious injuries to her arm. Dembowski said the girls were transported to Boston Medical Center to be examined by a trauma team due to the condition of their wounds. He also said the girls’ friend had already been removed from the AMC and was being treated by the time they arrived at the theater. Dembowski said the girls are physically OK but are shaken up by the incident. “Kids are resilient, but I think they’re scared that something like this could happen to them just because they went to a movie on a Saturday night,” Dembowski said. “Someone could come into a theater and do something like this without even knowing who they are. We don’t know who this person is,” police said. Police said the man left the scene in a black SUV-like vehicle and investigators determined he was no longer at the scene. Braintree police said the license plate from the video was shared with police in other parts of Massachusetts. Braintree police said a vehicle matching this description was reportedly involved in a similar assault in Plymouth. Braintree police said the vehicle was pursued by Massachusetts State Police and ended up in a crash in Sandwich. Police said the driver, who was not immediately identified, was taken into custody. “The crimes appear to be related,” Braintree police said in a statement. AMC Braintree 10 was closed after the stabbing. Witnesses inside the AMC said the movie they were watching suddenly stopped and they were told to leave the theater. Stabbing inside McDonald’s restaurant at Rest Stop in Plymouth Massachusetts State Police said they received a 911 call reporting a stabbing inside a McDonald’s restaurant at Route 3 South Service Plaza in Plymouth. The vehicle was found in Plymouth just after 7 p.m. Saturday. Inside the vehicle, state police found a 21-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man with what appeared to be stab wounds. Both were taken to area hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Police said they were given a description of the suspect’s vehicle, which helped them find the car in Sandwich. According to state police, troopers attempted to pull over the vehicle, but it did not stop. Police said the suspect crashed the vehicle and was taken into custody by Sandwich and state police shortly thereafter. The suspect is being treated at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth and is expected to be arraigned in Plymouth District Court on Tuesday, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office. Police were called to an undisclosed address around 3:36 p.m. Saturday and found the body of a person. “The suspect in this investigation is in custody in Massachusetts and there is no actual threat to the public,” Connecticut State Police said in a press release.

“Without saying anything or giving any warning, the man suddenly attacked and stabbed four young women,” police said. “The attacks appeared to be unprovoked. After the attacks, the man fled the theater and drove off in a vehicle.”

They were sitting in the second row. He came up behind them. My oldest daughter leaned over to get something. He made her sit back, then he made his other daughter sit on the top of the chest, and then he picked up his youngest daughter in his arms, laughing the whole time, and then he grabbed his friend and ran off.”
Dembowski said her older daughter and her friend ran outside after the suspect and it was them who had to call police.
“They told the people at AMC. AMC didn’t believe them. They didn’t really do anything,” Dembowski said.
All of the young women were taken to a Boston-area hospital for treatment with non-life-threatening injuries, police said, and sources told News Center 5 that one of the victims suffered a severe laceration to her arm.

A stabbing incident occurred at a McDonald’s restaurant in Plymouth Rest Area.
Massachusetts State Police said they received a 911 call just after 7 p.m. Saturday reporting a stabbing inside the McDonald’s restaurant at the Route 3 South Service Plaza in Plymouth.
State police found a 21-year-old woman and a 29-year-old man inside the building with apparent stab wounds. Both were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police say a description of the suspect’s vehicle was provided, helping officers locate the vehicle in Sandwich.
State police said troopers attempted to stop the vehicle but it did not stop.
Police say the suspect crashed the vehicle and was taken into custody by Sandwich Police and State Police a short time later.
The Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office said the suspect is being treated at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth and is likely to be arraigned in Plymouth District Court on Tuesday.
