Ted Sarandos regrets comparing Netflix to HBO and why he’s not interested in the ‘breaking news’ business

Ted Sarandos talks about comments he made in the early days of Netflix and reveals why he’s not interested in the breaking news business.

In a new interview, the Netflix CEO said he was walking back comments he made in 2012 comparing his platform to HBO.

“We said we were going to be HBO before HBO was us,” Sarandos said in the interview. The New York Times“At the time, HBO was the pinnacle of original programming.
