Did you know that 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime? That’s the equivalent of one baseball player. Nearly 300,000 American men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2024. While the vast majority are in the early stages and the disease is treatable, prostate cancer remains a deadly disease for many fathers, coaches, brothers and husbands. That’s why the Prostate Cancer Foundation has partnered with Major League Baseball to raise awareness.
What is the Home Run Challenge?
For 29 years, MLB and PCF have partnered on the Home Run Challenge to raise awareness and funds to support life-saving prostate cancer research. From now through Father’s Day (June 16), PCF teams will be traveling to ballparks across the country interacting with fans and players.
What did the Home Run Challenge accomplish?
Thanks to MLB’s ongoing efforts, the Home Run Challenge has raised more than $70 million for breakthroughs in prostate cancer research, and PCF supporters have attended more than 500 games at every ballpark in North America, witnessed some of the greatest moments in baseball history, interacted with more than 40 Hall of Fame players and tuned in to more than 1,000 broadcasts.
