The following article was published in the Forest Grove News-Times.

If your son or daughter loves sports, is looking for guidance, or is simply interested in trying something new, Pacific University may have the perfect fit.

This summer, Pacific University Athletics will host its second annual Athletic Department Summer Camp and Junior Boxer All-Sports Camp.

This week-long camp is hosted by Forest Grove University and offers a unique experience with participation in all 23 sports in the Boxer College Athletics program. This will be an action-packed week introducing all campers to Pacific University’s elite men’s and women’s intercollegiate sports and coaching, including swimming.

Pacific University men’s basketball head coach Justin Lunt said campers should expect an experience that is educational, social and fun.

“Campers can try out up to six different sports in one day,” Lunt said, “learn new skills, make new friends, and have fun.”

The camp is aimed at children from 1st to 8th grade and will be held over two days: a half-day camp from June 17th to 21st and a full-day camp from June 24th to 28th.

The cost is $250 (half day) or $325 (full day).

As part of the camp, the Boxer head coach will work directly with the young people to create a one-of-a-kind experience. Each camper will be coached by the Pacific University head coach, Pacific players and assistant coaches, providing a one-of-a-kind sporting opportunity.

“This camp is unique in that it gives kids the opportunity to use university facilities, meet head coaches face-to-face and interact with our Division III athletes,” Lunt said. “Plus, campers will be exposed to more than 20 different sports.”

As part of the Junior Boxer All-Sports Camp, the university, athletic department and coaching staff hope to emphasize a family-centered culture, a love and passion for the game and everything that comes with it, and a shared mission in sports, all for the benefit of area kids.

“For us, this is a great opportunity to come together as an athletic department and share our passion for sports with local kids,” Lunt said. “It makes our hearts happy when we hear from last year’s campers that they can’t wait to come back the next day or try a sport for the first time. It’s a benefit to young people getting moving, participating in sports and staying active and healthy. We want to set the next generation up to be successful.”

To register your child for camp, visit the juniorboxerallsportscamp.com or goboxers.com websites.
