DALLAS: Bad weather on Tuesday forced the cancellation of a T20 match between the United States and Bangladesh outside Dallas and an England-Pakistan match in Cardiff, Wales, disrupting four teams’ preparations for the upcoming World Cup.
The match between the United States and Bangladesh had been scheduled for Grand Prairie Stadium, one of three World Cup venues in the U.S. The Bangladesh Cricket Board said the match had been canceled due to “the condition of the facilities due to adverse weather conditions affecting the region.”
Powerful storms hit Texas, leaving more than a million businesses and homes without power.
In Wales, the third match of the warm-up series between England and Pakistan was cancelled due to rain.
The first match of the series was also cancelled due to bad weather but England won the second T20 match at Edgbaston on Saturday by 23 runs. The fourth and final match of the series will be played at the Oval in London on Thursday.
The T20 World Cup begins on Saturday and will be played in the United States and the Caribbean.
The United States will face Canada in the opening match at Grande Prairie Stadium, while Bangladesh will open their season on June 7 against Sri Lanka.
England’s first match will be against Scotland in Barbados on June 4, while Pakistan’s first match will be against the United States on June 6.
