Two of Virginia’s top recruiting targets for the Class of 2025 have been selected as 12 members of the USA Basketball Junior National U-18 Team.
Nate Ament, the No. 1 ranked recruit out of Virginia, and Nick Kamenia, one of California’s top prospects, were both named to the U.S. national team on Monday, which begins with 30 players competing for a spot on the final 12-man roster for international competition starting in June.
Ament is a 6-foot-8, 185-pound all-around forward from Highland High School in Monterey (Highland County) who plays for AAU team Loaded. He is ranked as the No. 13 prospect in the nation by 247 and is ranked even higher at No. 10 by both Rivals and On3.
Ament holds offers from the University of Virginia, Indiana University, Duke University, Creighton University, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest University, University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania State University, University of Illinois, University of Michigan, University of Missouri, Providence College, University of Maryland and University of Iowa.
Kamenia is a 6-foot-7, 195-pound forward who plays at Harvard-Westlake High School in Los Angeles, the same school as McDonald’s All-American point guard Trent Perry, who considered the University of Virginia before ultimately committing to UCLA.
Kamenia is ranked No. 39 nationally by On3, No. 40 by 247 and No. 50 by Rivals.
He holds offers from the University of Virginia, University of North Carolina, University of Tennessee, St. John’s University, Gonzaga University, UCLA, USC, UNLV, University of California, Stanford University, University of Oklahoma, University of Minnesota, University of Kansas, University of Nebraska, University of Iowa and University of Illinois.
