India vs Pakistan – If it’s an intense cricket match on the field, it’s no different off the field. Sometimes, the fan enthusiasm outweighs the stars playing on the field. Broadcasters take advantage of it as well (think ‘Mauk Mauka’ ads). The Indian and Pakistan cricket teams will meet again on June 9 in the T20 World Cup 2024. While India has the edge when it comes to head-to-head records, Pakistan are the runners-up of the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Ahead of the match, India and Pakistan were locked in a spat over a video that went viral showing Pakistani players walking in front of a television screen as the IPL final was being broadcast.

Ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup clash between India and Pakistan on June 9, security will be stepped up at New York’s Eisenhower Park Stadium following reports of threats to the match, reports ESPNCricinfo. A statement from the Governor’s Office said the situation is being monitored and that their information “does not pose a credible threat to public safety at this time.” Eisenhower Park Stadium, located 25 miles east of Manhattan, will host eight ICC T20 World Cup matches, including the clash between the Asian rivals, from June 3 to 12. New York Governor Kathy Hochul said she is working with law enforcement officials to ensure these matches go ahead smoothly.

“I have directed the New York State Police to step up security measures, including increased law enforcement, heightened surveillance and a thorough vetting process,” she said in remarks quoted by ESPNCricinfo.

“Public safety is my top priority and we are committed to ensuring the Cricket World Cup is a safe and enjoyable experience,” she added.

ESPNCricinfo has learnt that authorities have not found any corroborating evidence to support the reported threats, but the International Cricket Council (ICC) has said security will be “tight” at all venues throughout the tournament.
