When severe storms and tornadoes hit, local people try to find ways to help others.

Claremore businesses cooked lunches and distributed donations to those in need Thursday.

Titan Title in Claremore was handing out supplies to tornado victims, ranging from burgers and hot dogs to bottled water, paper towels and other essentials people need.

“We are allowing people to stop by and pick up what they need, giving them food and water. We are sending aid to local residents who are working on the ground,” Jordi Leach said.

Jordi Leach said the company had been planning a customer appreciation lunch, but after the tornado hit they decided they needed to make sure everyone could attend.

“I hope they feel a sense of security and comfort that there are people behind them and that we really do care and we’re here for you,” she said.

Linda Nunn is a real estate agent in town and saw the tornado pass by her home.

While she herself has not been affected, she has friends and family who have.

“This is the first time in my lifetime that a tornado has hit Claremore like this. It was my first time seeing a tornado, so it was pretty emotional,” she said.

Linda says it’s important that people help each other when things like this happen and this is a small way she can help.

“I’m so grateful for everyone’s generosity and kindness. Oklahoma people are the best. Claremore is a great town,” she said.

Anything not distributed today will be donated to local churches for distribution.
