Pakistan captain Babar Azam consoled youngster Azam Khan after his dismal performance in the fourth T20I against England on Thursday, May 30. Azam was mercilessly bashed online for his failure with the bat, disappointing performance as wicketkeeper and two dropped catches in Pakistan’s innings. His selection in Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad was questioned after Azam Khan failed to score in five balls. However, Babar was there to cheer his player on and consoled Azam by putting his arm around his shoulder as he left the field. Pakistan lost the four-match T20I series against England 0-2 after two matches in Leeds and Cardiff were cancelled.

In a video posted on ‘X’, Babar could be seen walking up to Azam, who appeared dejected after Pakistan’s loss in the fourth T20I. The captain lifted his spirits by offering encouragement and support to the young player. ENG vs PAK, 4th T20I: Highlights

ENG vs PAK: The truth

England comfortably beat Pakistan to win the pre-T20 World Cup series. Pakistan started brilliantly but were bowled out for a below average 157 runs. Mohammed Rizwan and Babar Azam, followed by Usman Khan, got off to a fast start but the rest of the batsmen were not in good form. The England team quickly picked up the pace with Phil Salt and Jos Buttler giving the team a blistering start with a partnership of 82 runs. It was a commanding seven-wicket victory for England who ticked all the boxes throughout the series.

Babar seems unhappy with the team’s middle order. After the loss, he hoped the team would step up in the T20 World Cup.

“We played very well for the first six overs. Then as wickets fell, the momentum changed. Our batting in the middle order needs to step up. We need two-three good overs at the middle and death too. England have pitched very well. Hopefully, something like this doesn’t happen in the World Cup,” Babar Azam said after the match.

England and Pakistan are scheduled to fly to the US to take part in the T20 World Cup, which begins on June 2.
