BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FLORIDA – For the first time in program history, the Men’s Rowing Varsity 4+ made it onto the podium at the IRA National Championships, winning a bronze medal.

The Panthers faced off against powerhouse teams such as Washington, Dartmouth, Colgate, California and Brown in Saturday’s final.

Right from the start, both teams were neck and neck until the 500 meter mark, when Washington took a one seat lead over the other team and continued to extend their lead.

Tech and Dartmouth then battled it out in a close bowball battle for the next 500 meters, with Dartmouth leading at the 1,000 meter mark, with Tech’s bowball within three seats of Dartmouth’s.

The order remained unchanged for the remainder of the race, with Washington University finishing first (6.15.019), Dartmouth College second (6.17.432), and Tech third (6.19.146) to round out the podium.

The Panthers edged out teams from Colgate (6:22.286), California (6:22.356) and Brown (6:25.976).
