Corral Fire Growth and Where It’s Burning According to CalFire, as of 8 a.m. Sunday morning, the fire had burned 12,500 acres and was 15% contained. This represents an overnight expansion of about 2,500 acres. Suppression is measured in percentages to represent the break or line of combustible material around the fire that has been achieved, helping to prevent the fire from spreading. Cal Fire said about 400 personnel were responding to the fire and trying to contain it. The fire along the north side of I-580 was contained and there did not appear to be any damage to the road. It is unclear if other parts of I-580 were damaged. “Firefighters are struggling to get the fire under control,” Cal Fire’s Josh Silveria said Saturday night. Two firefighters suffered minor to moderate injuries, but details of their conditions were not available. The fire broke out around 2:30 p.m. near West Corral Hollow Road and has burned about 450 acres, the release said. Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory said the fire broke out near the 300 Test Site but did not pose a threat to the facility. The Corral Fire is unrelated to a series of recent controlled burns near the site, according to the institute. According to the wind weather team at the time of the fire, wind gusts were over 40 mph when the fire started Saturday evening. Meteorologist Heather Waldman said wind gusts died down a bit overnight and into Sunday morning, but geographically, the fire is in a wind-prone area. Winds are expected to pick up again from the west Sunday afternoon, with wind gusts reaching around 30 mph. Smoke from the fire may be unhealthy for sensitive populations. Corral Fire Evacuation Information San Joaquin County Emergency Services said evacuation orders have been issued for residents west of California Aqueduct, south of Corral Hollow Creek, west of Alameda County and south of Stanislaus County. While an evacuation order is in place, there is an imminent threat to your life. Evacuation is mandatory in this case. A temporary shelter is located at Larch Clover Community Center in Tracy. A large animal shelter is set up at 2271 West Louise Avenue in Manteca. Power restored after outage Thousands of Pacific Gas & Electric Co. customers lost power, but power has since been restored to nearly all customers.
