In a long-running battle for subscribers, MrBeast has overtaken T-Series to become the largest YouTube channel.
T-Series, an Indian music label that uploads trailers and music videos, held the record for the largest channel on YouTube for five years until it was broken on Sunday.
MrBeast, real name Jimmy Donaldson, was already the most followed person.
But the 26-year-old has now made history on the platform with a seemingly unbeatable subscriber base of 269 million, dethroning T-Series and standing head and shoulders above all others.
Over the course of his roughly 800 videos, MrBeast has made a name for himself performing epic stunts, including gifting away his private island, being buried alive and staging a live-action version of the Netflix hit “The Squid Game.”
In a post on X, MrBeast said he had finally surpassed T-Series’ 266 million subscribers and got his “revenge” on YouTuber Felix Kjellberg, better known as PewDiePie.
In a subsequent post, MrBeast said his channel had added more than 2 million subscribers on Saturday, its biggest single-day increase in subscribers ever.
T-Series originally overtook PewDiePie to set the record in 2019, but the Swedish YouTuber said in a music video explaining his defeat that “it took a huge company with all the Bollywood songs.”

MrBeast becoming the most subscribed person and channel on YouTube means he now has even more influence and wealth on the platform.
He has several channels dedicated to gaming, charity work and other content responses, each with tens of millions of subscribers.
“Please don’t email me asking for money. I give money because it makes me happy,” his channel description tells viewers, referencing the total amount of cash he’s given away over his YouTube career, which totals millions of dollars.
One video he posted in April won someone $250,000 (£196,000).
Elon Musk, who has encouraged Mr.Beast and other video creators to post on his platform X (formerly Twitter), was among those to congratulate him.
Making X a more attractive platform for creators forms a key part of Musk’s strategy to make the platform profitable, with the YouTuber revealing in January that he made $250,000 from the first video he posted to X.
