(NewsNation) — A new poll finds Hispanic small business owners are split on their support for President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump ahead of the 2024 election, with many remaining undecided.

A poll by the United States Hispanic Business Council (USHBC) found that 14% of its members who previously supported Biden are now undecided, while 9% who voted for Trump in 2020 are also still undecided.

Overall, about one in five Hispanic USHBC members say they are undecided about the next presidential election.

Majority of independents say Trump received ‘fair trial’: poll

The survey highlights Hispanic voters as a key group in determining the outcome, with 51% of Hispanic voters favoring Trump compared with 27% favoring Biden when it comes to corporate profits, and 22% disliking either candidate for economic reasons.

“We know that Hispanic voters are the most independent-minded and most undecided voting group in the United States,” Javier Palomares, CEO of the USHBC and a lifelong Democrat who currently considers himself undecided, told “NewsNation Prime” on Sunday.

Since the last presidential election, Latinos have seen the second-fastest growth among major racial and ethnic groups in the U.S. electorate, with an estimated 36.2 million eligible to vote this year, up from 32.3 million in 2020, according to data from the Pew Research Center.

One in three Americans have lost someone to a drug overdose: study

The top challenges for Hispanic business owners are the economy (31%), preserving democracy (30%), national security (14%) and immigration (13%).

In a nationwide poll of more than 2,300 USHBC members, 32% identified as Republican, 34% as Democrat, and 35% as independent. Notably, 67% supported the independent candidate.

When asked about the economic impact, inflation was the biggest concern at 33%, followed by gas and electricity prices at 27% and interest rates at 20%.
