The post Sharks Villain Perry Makes Amazing Record in Stanley Cup Final appeared first on NBC Sports Bay Area

The longtime Sharks villain set a Stanley Cup Finals record.

Corey Perry, entering his 20th season, will play in his fifth Stanley Cup Final as the Edmonton Oilers defeat the Dallas Stars in six games in the Western Conference Finals, becoming the first player in NHL history to play in the Stanley Cup Final with five different teams.

The 39-year-old, a four-time All-Star and winner of the 2010-11 Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s MVP, has currently reached the championship round with the Anaheim Ducks, Dallas Stars, Montreal Canadiens, Tampa Bay Lightning and the aforementioned Oilers.

Perry became a San Jose nemesis during his time with Anaheim, where he played 14 seasons after being selected 28th overall by the Ducks in the 2003 NHL Draft.

Over the last 13 years, the rivalry between the Sharks and Ducks has remained as heated as ever, with Perry racking up not only goals and assists but penalty minutes as well.

And of course, they’ve taken some controversial hits along the way, like in the first round of the 2018 playoffs.

To be exact, Perry has 94 penalty minutes, 28 goals and 26 assists in 75 games against San Jose in his career.

The winger has racked up more points and penalty minutes against the Sharks than any other team in the league except for the Utah Hockey Club (formerly the Arizona Coyotes).

Now, as the Oilers prepare to face the Florida Panthers for the prestigious Stanley Cup, it looks like San Jose fans now have a team to root for.

And thanks to Perry for not being the team you should root for.
