Jacksonville, Florida – Where will people look for the next step in employee satisfaction?
Freelancing might mean working for yourself and being in control of your work. This week on Jacksonville: Business Edition, we discuss the freelance economy with Shannon Denton of Wripple.
“A lot of people talk about the gig economy,” Denton says, “and it’s been about Uber drivers and DoorDashers and consumers finding jobs that allow them to make extra money with very flexible working arrangements. But I think the freelance economy is really more of a white-collar thing.”

Denton said the freelance economy offers people with certain skill sets the opportunity to leverage those abilities to gain further opportunities within corporate America.
“This is what’s known in the industry as a moonlighting job, where someone works full time and earns extra income by doing additional copyright work or design work for larger companies,” Denton says, “or it could be full-time freelance work, where a white-collar professional finds work on the open market as an independent free agent.”
What are the benefits of joining the freelance world? What are the risks? In this episode, we look at both.
