With summer fast approaching, it’s time to refresh your beauty routine with this season’s hottest new makeup trends.
Celebrities are already hitting the red carpet in the trend’s rosy doll blush and bold neon eyeliner, and beauty experts are showing us how to try the new look at home.
Here are some summer makeup trends you should try…
1. Bold neon eyes
Neon is a top trend this summer, so try some neon eyeliner and eyeshadow for some bold looks.
According to Rachel Divers, resident makeup artist at Face The Future, it’s the look to watch this season.
She recommends using brightly colored eyeliner or eyeshadow, as well as a dramatic winged eyeliner or bold color on your lids.

2. Wet Look
Beauty lovers are opting for a dewy, fresh aesthetic, with “glassy” or “dewy” skin becoming ubiquitous in summer 2024, says Hayley Walker, makeup artist and beauty expert at Just My Look.
“This look can be achieved using cream, liquid or glossy formulas that create a dewy glow. To enhance the look, be sure to use a moisturizing and hydrating skincare routine before applying makeup to create a smooth canvas,” she says.
“Hydrating masks and hyaluronic acid creams are great for this purpose. As part of your makeup routine to achieve a dewy skin look, choose serums and lightweight foundations that boost hydration and give a smooth, natural finish. Liquid highlighters are useful for this purpose as they enhance a fresh, radiant finish.”
This look creates a radiant, light complexion and gives off a wet glass appearance.

3. Kissed by the Sun
In the summer, try a tanned look with minimal makeup, with many opting for a natural bronze finish.
Moisturising and sunscreen are key to keeping your complexion looking soft and fresh, and Walker recommends avoiding full-coverage matte products and opting for a lightweight serum foundation for a natural base.
“A tinted moisturizer is perfect for this look, as it will give you a minimal, bronze finish. Apply a cream blusher to mimic tanned cheeks and accentuate the natural, no-makeup look. Opt for a gloss or lip balm instead of lipstick here, and finish off with a moisturizing spray.”

4. Smokey eye
Grunge is back for summer, and adding some intense eyeshadow to your makeup routine can help you make a bold statement.
Divers says “realistic eyeliner” is becoming more popular, with smudged, smoky eyeliner adding a natural edge to any makeup style.
Walker shows us how to achieve a flattering look by carefully blending a dark eyeshadow from the outer corner of the eye to the hollow of the eye.
“Blend well until you achieve the desired intensity, and remember to go bold! Next, apply liquid or pencil eyeliner. Start at the outer corner of your eye and work your way inwards. This will deepen the smoky effect and intensify the look. Finish off with mascara.”

5. Doll Brush
Rosy, doll-like pink cheeks are on trend this summer, and Walker shows us how to achieve the look.
“You can use either a cream or matte blush to perfect this look, but we recommend opting for a cream-based blush for a smooth, fresh finish.
“Add a light pink blush to your cheekbones to add some colour to your face. Complement your look with a highlighter to add a subtle glow.”
