Now, just four remain: In the 2024 French Open semi-finals, four of the top seven players in the world will compete for their first French Open title.
The opening match will see world No. 2 Jannik Sinner take on world No. 3 Carlos Alcaraz. Both players are Grand Slam champions, with Sinner winning the Australian Open in January and Alcaraz winning the 2022 U.S. Open and last summer’s Wimbledon. The second match of the day will feature world No. 4 Alexander Zverev, who is both looking to win his first Grand Slam title, facing world No. 7 Casper Ruud, who has been runner-up at the French Open for the past two consecutive years.
It will be only the second time a member of the “Big Three” (Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer) has failed to win the tournament that Rafael Nadal has dominated for the past two decades, since Nadal’s first French Open title in 2005. Stan Wawrinka won the French Open men’s singles title in 2015.
