  4. The India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup match is unlikely to be moved from the Nassau Stadium, with organisers promising repair works on the pitch ahead of Sunday’s mega-confrontation.

India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024: India vs Pakistan is one of the most anticipated matchups of the World Cup. The 30,000-seater stadium is sold out and it will be difficult to shift the match to any other venue.

India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024: The Nassau Stadium pitch has recently come under fire for its uneven bounce that led to India captain Rohit Sharma being forced to withdraw injured during the match against Ireland, and the governing body has denied claims that the highly-anticipated clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan on June 9 will be moved from the stadium, according to a report in The Times of London. However, organisers have acknowledged there are issues with the field and have assured that improvement work will be carried out ahead of Sunday’s match.

“T20 Corporation [the organising committee] “And the ICC recognises that the pitch used to date at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium has not performed as consistently as we would all have hoped. Our world-class grounds team has been working hard since the completion of yesterday’s match to remedy the situation and provide the best possible surface for the remaining matches,” a statement from the organisers revealed.

The article also pointed out that the unstable bounce of the pitch was caused by streaks in the grass on the track, and that the pitch is currently being smoothed and levelled to reduce the effect of the streaks.

By rolling the wicket and pushing the turf down, the ball will hit a flatter surface which should result in better play, the report added.

The India vs Pakistan match is one of the most anticipated matches of the World Cup and with the 30,000-seater stadium already sold out, it would be difficult to shift it to another venue.

Holiday Offers

However, this is not the first time the Nassau Stadium pitch has come under scrutiny – it was plagued by the same issues during Sri Lanka’s match against South Africa, when Sri Lanka were bowled out for 77 and the Proteas took over 16 overs to reach that fragile target, losing four wickets in the process.

Former Zimbabwe cricketer Andy Flower has condemned the pitch as dangerous, while former players such as Irfan Pathan and Michael Vaughan have also expressed dissatisfaction with the condition of the playing field.
