Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal thanked the Chinese Foreign Ministry for congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his victory in the recently concluded Indian Lok Sabha elections. Jaiswal said India will continue to pursue normalization of bilateral ties.
“I thank @MFA_China for congratulating PM Narendra Modi on his election victory. We will continue our efforts towards normalising India-China relations based on mutual respect, mutual benefit and mutual consideration,” Jaiswal said in a post on X.
Jaiswal’s remarks came after the Chinese Foreign Ministry on May 5 congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) on their victory in the Lok Sabha elections, adding that it looked forward to a “healthy and stable” China-India relationship.

Mao Ning said at a regular press conference that a “healthy and stable” relationship between India and China was in their common interests and would contribute to peace and development in the region and the world.
She expressed China’s readiness to cooperate with India in the fundamental interests of the people of both countries.
Asked about the Indian election results, Mao Ning said, “We are aware that the results of India’s general elections have been announced. China congratulates Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its National Democratic Alliance for India on their victory.”
