The Texas Tech women’s track and field team concluded its season on Saturday at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

The Tech women’s team placed seventh at the national tournament with 26 total points, the third-best final score in team history, according to Tech Athletics.

Freshman Temitope Adesina finished the season in third place in the girls high jump final with a personal best of 1.97 meters. Adesina tied with the top two finishers in the event but made more mistakes than the top two, which resulted in her third place finish. Adesina was named a first-team All-American, according to Tech Athletics.

Freshman Claire Lowry placed 13th in the event with a jump of 1.82 meters and was named a second-team All-American, according to Tech Athletics.

Senior Rosemary Chukwuma earned her third consecutive third-place finish in the girls’ 100-meter national finals. Chukwuma’s performance, clocked in at 10.90 seconds, earned her first team All-American honors, according to Tech Athletics.

Chukwuma also competed in the girls 4x100m final, finishing in fifth place with a time of 42.87 seconds, the third-best time in school history, according to the Tech University track and field department. Chukwuma was accompanied by senior Serena Clark and juniors Alyssa Colbert and Success Umukoro.

Freshman Juliette Cherbet placed fifth in the women’s 5k final with a personal best time of 15:25.41, according to Tech Athletics. Cherbet was named First Team All-American.

Graduate student Ann Susanna Foster Katta was named to the All-American First Team after placing fourth in the girls triple jump final with a jump of 13.68 meters, and senior Ruta Lasmane was also named to the All-American First Team after placing eighth with a jump of 13.50 meters, according to Tech Athletics.

All statistics from the final day of the NCAA Outdoor National Championships can be found on the Tech Athletics website.

Although Tech’s track and field season has concluded, some athletes in the program will continue competing and representing their countries at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
