Against Pakistan, India were all out for just 119 runs with Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf picking up four wickets each. Rishabh Pant was the top scorer for India with 42 runs, Akshar Patel scored 20 and captain Rohit Sharma scored 13. These were the only three Indian batsmen to reach double figures.

India finally crossed the 100-run mark in the 16th over against Pakistan after the Men in Blue had slumped from 58/2 to 96/7 at one point. After being asked to bat first by Pakistan in a rain-interrupted match, India suffered two shocks in the crucial encounter. Talisman Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma were dismissed within three overs, leaving India at 19/2. A toss was taken and the start of the match was delayed due to rain. Following the toss, Pakistan elected to bat first against India. Pakistan made one change to their playing XI, bringing in Imad Wasim for Azam Khan, while India remained unchanged from the playing XI they had used in the opening match against Ireland.
