In a series of TikTok videos, self-proclaimed “boy moms” explain why they love their sons more than their daughters. Really.
But mothers who say the connections they make with their sons are different from the connections they make with their daughters risk appearing to be partial by speaking up.
His mother, influencer Avery Woods, posted a video in which she said her son has inherited her heart and soul.
Noting that she’s “clearly crazy” about her daughter, Woods continued, “But I’ve always wanted to be a boy’s mom. He has my heart. My mind and my soul.”
Influencer mom faces backlash for post about son’s mother
The video sparked backlash, with many users voicing sympathy for Woods’ daughter.
Meanwhile, one mother shared her experience as the mother of a boy who became estranged from her stepdaughter after a dispute.
Speaking about the reasons behind the estrangement, the mother, who uses the handle @fred_mom, said: “Any mother with a son is at a disadvantage if she has a wife.”
The audio, “You’ll be his first kiss, his first love,” has also gone viral on TikTok, with mothers sharing videos of their sons’ first kisses.
“Unbelievably incestuous.”
While many have chosen to use the hashtag “boy mom,” others have steered clear of it, with one person writing on TikTok that they find such thinking “incredibly incestuous.”
Another “boy mom” trend involves mothers teaching their sons how to cook so they won’t be impressed with their future partners’ culinary skills.
However, most respondents said boys should be educated so they can survive and help their partners.
