NASHVILLE, Tenn., June 12, 2024 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — With more than 100 years of serving the community, Lincoln Tech’s NADC understands the importance of supporting future skilled engineers through every stage of their education. As part of its commitment to student success, the campus recently donated a series of diesel engines to a local high school.
With more than 240,000 diesel and truck technician jobs expected to open nationwide by 2032*, Lincoln Tech’s NADC is proud to promote the industry as an exciting and rewarding career path for students looking to gain in-demand skills.
“We are honored to support our local schools and strengthen their diesel technology programs,” said Brent Jenkins, dean of Lincoln Tech’s NADC campus. “With such a high demand for technicians in the industry — not only across the country, but here in Tennessee — it takes all of us working together to expand the overall workforce. These engines will be put to good use in the new location, and we’re pleased that so many future diesel technicians will get to use this equipment and gain hands-on skills.”
Hickman County High School and East Hickman County High School each received two rebranded 1,000-pound CAT engines, each valued at $20,000. “Receiving donations like this from Lincoln Tech enhances our ability to expose students to the latest technology they will encounter in the workplace,” said Todd Collins, automotive instructor at East Hickman County High School. “Without donations like this, we would be limited in what we could expose students to in our programs.”
Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) also received engine donations for its Nashville and Hartsville campuses. Marshall “Pat” Dillard, diesel instructor at TCAT Nashville, is a 1973 graduate of Lincoln Tech’s NADC and a former Lincoln Tech instructor. While at Lincoln Tech in 2007, Dillard helped start the campus’ heavy equipment maintenance program. TCAT just received accreditation from the Associated Equipment Distributors (AED) Foundation, and he said Lincoln’s donation will play a key role in expanding the hands-on experience students receive.
Houston County High School, which also received a donated engine, is one of several schools in the area whose graduates have earned qualifications at Lincoln Tech’s NADC.
One of the nation’s leading locations for diesel industry career training, the Nashville campus is home to the Peterbilt Technician Institute (PTI). In addition to diesel and truck service technology programs, the campus also offers career training in the automotive, collision repair, heavy equipment and welding industries.
