Yuvraj Singh and Shahid Afridi, ambassadors for the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024, shared a conversation during India’s win over Pakistan on Sunday, and the video has gone viral on social media. In the video, the former Indian all-rounder and former Pakistan cricket team captain are seen engaged in a hilarious exchange, and fans can’t contain their excitement over the exchange. Afridi seemed upset that Pakistan failed to win the match despite beating India by a mere 119 runs. He even said that Yuvraj predicted a Pakistan victory when Babar Azam’s team was 40 runs away from victory. Yuvraj replied that he did, but was confident of India’s victory.
This was the conversation between Yuvraj Singh and Shahid Afridi.
Yuvraj: “Lala, why are you sad? What happened?”
Afridi: Am I right to be sad? Was this a match that we (Pakistan) should have lost? When we needed to score 40 to win, Yuvraj said to me, ‘Lala, congratulations! I am going home, I will not watch the rest of the match’. I told him, ‘Yubi, 40 is a lot on this pitch, don’t celebrate so early’.
Yuvraj: I said Pakistan would win but still I was confident that we (India) would come out on top from there. Winning and losing is part of the game and what matters is that our friendship will continue.
India have won both the matches against Ireland and Pakistan to put themselves in a good position to qualify for the Super 8 in the T20 World Cup 2024. The final two matches are against the United States and Canada and Rohit Sharma’s team needs one more win to progress to the next round.
