After India’s win against Pakistan, the same fan told ANI, “I sold my tractor to buy tickets worth $3,000. When I saw India’s score, I didn’t think they would lose this match. I thought it was an achievable score. The match was in our hands but after Babar Azam’s dismissal, people were disheartened. Congratulations to you all (Indian fans).”
On Wednesday, the U.S. was asked to strike first and faced a tough task. Arshdeep Singh (4-9) wreaked havoc in the opening overs, dismissing Shayan Jahangir (0) and Andries Guth (2). Despite the early setbacks, Steven Taylor (24) and Nitish Kumar (27) managed to steady the ship and guide their team to a respectable total of 110-8.

India’s victory began with a blistering delivery from Arshdeep Singh that set the tone for the innings. Suryakumar Yadav (50) and Shivam Dube (31) then played his part as he forged a crucial 72-run partnership to turn the match in India’s favour. Their dominant batting performance saw the Men in Blue secure a comfortable seven-wicket win.
Pakistan’s chances of qualifying for the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup 2024 have diminished due to poor weather forecast for the upcoming match in Florida, which will also host the Ireland vs USA match. If this match ends scoreless, Pakistan will be eliminated. To progress, Pakistan will have to rely on Ireland beating USA on Friday and winning their match against Ireland on Sunday.
