LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh BJP leader Bhupendra Chaudhary on Friday said the party will send key cadres to all Lok Sabha seats to find out the reasons behind the “below expectations” performance in Uttar Pradesh in the recently concluded general elections. Chaudhary said the party will look into all aspects after getting feedback from the ground. “Corrective measures will be taken accordingly,” he told reporters at the state party office. BJP sources said all key state leaders, including sitting and former MLAs, have been asked to get an independent report from the grassroots level and submit the report within a week. Earlier in the day, Chaudhary and state general secretary (organisation) Dharmpal Singh met senior state leaders, including all vice-presidents and state secretaries, to discuss the reasons for the apparent electoral disaster which has seen the BJP’s vote tally plummet from 62 in 2019 to 33 this time. The state unit also held a separate meeting for state assembly members. In Kanpur-Bundelkhand region, the BJP managed to win only four of the 10 Lok Sabha seats. The party lost key seats like Banda, Etawah, Kannauj, Jalaun, Fatehpur and Hamirpur. The BJP is likely to win in Farrukhabad, Unnao, Akbarpur and Kanpur. The meeting was attended by all provincial and district leaders. It came a day after the provincial government held a meeting with officials from Oudh region.
