SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — U.S. Youth Soccer’s Midwest Presidents Cup kicks off Friday at Yankton Trail Park in Sioux Falls, with the tournament expected to draw about 6,000 spectators to Sioux Falls.

But not only is the football stadium crowded, it’s also attracting more customers to a nearby dessert shop.

Several thunderstorms this weekend

McKenna Geringer, kitchen manager at Oh My Cupcakes!, said they’re seeing more customers than usual.

“There’s a lot of people coming through and a lot going on around town and people just want something sweet to eat after playing football all day,” Geringer said.

The tournament has attracted teams from more than 12 states, and Geringer said he enjoys meeting new customers.

“It’s really fun to see all the different people that come and how far they come from. I know that for any soccer tournament that comes through town, a lot of people come from pretty far away, so it’s really fun to see all the different people that come from different areas,” Geringer said.

There are also sales this weekend for those looking to treat themselves special.
“We also have a sale on cupcake parfaits. We crumble cupcake frosting, put more cupcakes on top and then put more frosting on top. They’re $7.50 each, two for $12 or three for $15,” Geringer said.

Geringer said he’s ready for the crowds to stop by after the sweet victory.

“So we bake cupcakes from scratch every day. We make everything from scratch. We start baking at 3:30 a.m. and don’t rest until we’ve baked all of them for the day,” Geringer said.

The soccer tournament will end on June 18th.

Oh My Cupcakes! is open every day except Sunday from 7:30am to 5:30pm.
