Last week’s letter:
Hello NL team
I want to thank you for your coverage during the election period, which culminated in your live broadcast on June 4. I have watched and criticized your shows in the past (Abinandan’s “Book Review” and Mehdi Hasan being good examples), but the past few months have been fantastic.
It was definitely a great decision to bring in some great journalists to collaborate with my own talented colleagues – Sreenivasan Jain’s ‘Claim vs Reality’ is a special mention, Karma Paljor’s coverage from the North East and Sudipto’s ‘What’s your ism’ too.
I also appreciate the BJP’s efforts to include voices, though I did not entirely agree with their opinions (Surabhi Hodigere), and some of them were most painful to listen to ( Aam Janata) It’s good to get out of the echo chamber every now and then! 😛
All in all, thanks for all your efforts in providing value for money. Thanks to the whole team for all their hard work. Hats off to you!

I liked that you asked your Danish subscribers to accept the award for the app on behalf of NL. This gesture struck me not only because I am a subscriber, but because it shows how much you value collaboration and community. This subverts the consumer model of paying for content. We are not just consumers, we like to feel responsible and have a stake in your coverage. Congratulations! Jug Jug!
Is it actually possible to organize meetups in Europe for willing subscribers without a NL facilitator? It would be great to meet more people from the community, as NL subscribers seem to be pretty thoughtful people with informed opinions. 🙂
P.S.: Also, congratulations to the BJ Party for losing its absolute majority on its own. I hope that the Congress will return to parliament again. It’s all about real debate and a bare minimum of democracy.

Thank you to the Newslaundry team for your amazing coverage of this election and all your hard work. You all deserve a round of applause and a mental break.
Again, questions about voter suppression and the attitude of the Election Commission should not be left unanswered just because the election results are as expected according to the Opposition. The Election Commission needs to be grilled for conducting the election in dangerous heat and for its authoritarian attitude. With the cost of voting ever increasing, the poor will not necessarily be motivated to come out to the polls and voice their concerns. Also, is there any possibility of holding our beloved babu accountable in any way? I feel that the power they hold is out of proportion to their qualifications, which are basically passing 10th grade level exams. I feel that the people of India have been bearing the incompetence of these babu for too long.

Hello,
I know there is a word limit, but I want to say I appreciate the whole team’s hard work and their advocacy for democracy.
I just wanted to point out that none of you (unless I missed it) have mentioned the fact that the Punjab elections were on June 1st, the 40th anniversary of the 1984 Shri Akal Takht attack. It pains me but I would rather vote for the Indian National Congress 10 times over than vote for a communal party like the BJP. It is very despicable and deplorable that the Election Commission has behaved in this way and there is no denying why they have done so.

Letter of the week:
Please fix your app. The new iOS app keeps crashing every time I try to open it.
I really love the work you guys do, especially your on-the-ground coverage of the recent elections. I’d love to see more political interviews (even if it’s just the opposition, as I’m not interested in the ruling party).
I love you 3000 🙂🙂🙂

Hello NL team
This is what I have realised after listening to a year of hafta and charcha. With the South Hafta about to begin, in my analysis, I expect to find some common ground between Daniya and Raman (technical), Abhinandan and Sudipto (yelling middle-aged men), Manisha and Atul (hardworking liberals), Jayashree and Shardul (leftists critical of liberals), and Anand (Fali Nariman) and Hridaesh (Ravish Kumar).
Pooja will be participating as a guest to balance things out. Will she get a title in South Hafta? Ma’amouri, Given the diversity of languages in South India, I think this is a phrase that resonates across South India (I don’t know about Kerala). Think of it this way: thugs and scoundrels are Blood vessels From the people, and us Maamori From politicians.

Sudipto Mondal, like the Mehraj of old, is an opinionated and boring character. News LaundryPeople who love the sound of their own voice are not very interesting, and the sooner he realizes this, the better for him and for his listeners.

I am writing to seek some insight into the repeated electoral victories of Hema Malini in Mathura. Contrary to my own perspective, I would really like to understand the factors that have contributed to her continued success in this constituency. Could you please provide an analysis or explain the dynamics?
Are there any wise men? News Laundry Who can solve this mystery? Otherwise, I cannot understand why the people of Mathura continue to make the same foolish choices.

Manisha observed the sentiment that the Rama temple is a place that is off-limits to the common man. Deul The 2011 film “Temple” accurately depicts this phenomenon. Available on Prime.

Hello NL team
I’ve loved watching the hafta on YouTube over the past few months, but Chotta Hafta just doesn’t cut it. Is there a way for my subscribers to watch the full-length hafta in video format? Thank you for all your hard work!

These middle-class Indians will be happy to see the ED/CBI step in and act and not go after opposition leaders and force them to join the ruling party.
Why can’t the ED/CBI/IT look into the source of income and financial flow of these fraudsters who call themselves election scientists and predict exit polls as per instructions?
These central agencies should look into where these “experts” get the funding to “predict” and deceive people.

To all NL teams:
Can we get a video version of NL Hafta? I think the podcast was better when it was outside of the paid version of YouTube because we could see the guests speaking and their reactions to the topics being discussed. I would ask that you bring the video version of the podcast back to the NL website.

Dear team,
I love what you do and always enjoy listening to your hafta. I also had the pleasure of watching your team’s speeches on YouTube during the last elections. I have a question: is there a video recording of the NL hafta available? I couldn’t find it anywhere on your website. If not, can you make it available? The audio is great but I can’t hear Abhinandan’s facial expressions when he’s telling jokes. Thank you!

For two months, Hafta has entertained us by showing us all your beautiful looks in video format. Now that it’s back to audio format, I don’t know what to do. How can I go back to just listening after seeing all your amazing looks? For the sake of our eyes and sanity, please bring back the video format on the NL app.

Hello NL team
Now that Modi’s hegemony over national life has crumbled, will NL and other organisations be examining the mainstream media and the types of deals and compromises they have made with the government over the last decade?
So far, much of it remains speculation. Will the truth ever come out?
Thank you for your work and keep up the good work.

Hello,
I really, really, really want you to take down this right-wing YouTuber Shyam Sharma, who even claims to have “exposed” you on .
You can do Hafta, Charcha, Newsance, but please make this stick. In fact, NL Responds could be a series where we respond to those online attacks and allegations.
P.S.: Shyam Sharma was a friend before he became so openly bigoted. But he has always been a pathological liar and half-truth teller. Not a keen observer or insightful. His aversion to reason and truth is pretty clear within the first 30 seconds of the video.
