2. The Paramount sale is over.
Shari Redstone has called off the sale of Paramount Global to a consortium led by Skydance Media and Redbird Capital, ending months of talks between the two parties. Paramount Global fired CEO Bob Bakish as part of the sale talks, but instead plans to focus on a “shared vision” outlined by co-CEOs George Cheeks, Brian Robbins and Chris McCarthy. This includes further cost-cutting, selling non-core assets (potentially BET) and exploring potential streaming partners. Here’s a look at what’s next for the conglomerate.
3. What’s Going On…USA Network
In our regular Network Check-In segment, we highlight the USA Network and their recent orders. Rainmaker A closer look at the drama series: Sure, USA will return to “Blue Sky,” but can they do it cost-effectively with linear ratings in decline?
4. Hot Dog Wars (Really!)
With the Fourth of July fast approaching, a hot dog eating contest is underway between ESPN and Netflix. Hot dog eating champion Joey Chestnut has been barred from ESPN’s Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest and will instead face off against rival Takeru Kobayashi in a Labor Day special.
