It’s been exactly two weeks since Caitlin Clark and her Indiana Fever won their exciting season opener by one point. After the game, Chennedy Carter’s hard foul on Clark was upgraded to a Flagrant 1, and Carter said she had “no regrets.”

The two teams meet again on Sunday, but since then, the debate surrounding Kaitlyn Clark has only intensified, including her exclusion from the U.S. Women’s Olympic Team. Through 14 games, Clark is averaging 15.6 points, 4.9 rebounds and six assists per game, while the Sky’s Angel Reese is having an impressive rookie season of her own, averaging 12.2 points and 10 rebounds per game.

Follow all of the live updates, highlights and more from Sunday’s Fever and Sky daytime matches on Yahoo Sports.

WNBA early awards race: Alyssa Thomas, Kaitlyn Clark are favorites to win prizes

    Rookie of the Year

    Caitlin Clark, heat

Clark is off to an outstanding start to her WNBA career, despite playing some of the league’s best defenses early on. Angel Reese (12.4 ppg, 9.6 rpg) and Cameron Brink (2.9 bpg) are also off to strong starts, but that shouldn’t stop Clark from winning the award. Camila Cardozo’s debut was delayed due to injury, but she could also be in the conversation.

Clark is averaging 15.6 points (17th all-time for a rookie) and is one of just two rookies averaging at least 10 points, four rebounds and four assists per game. His six assists per game is fourth in the league and he’s shouldered the most weight of any rookie in this class as the lead ballhandler and one of the biggest names in league history.

Caitlin Clark responds to WNBA crowd bias: ‘My name should not be used to push such claims’

As the controversy surrounding Indiana Fever rookie and women’s basketball phenom Caitlin Clark intensifies, some of it has taken an ugly turn into accusations of racism and misogyny toward other WNBA teams.

Clarke disputed the remarks on Thursday, saying he didn’t want his name used in that context.

“Everybody in this world deserves the same respect, and the women in our league deserve the same respect,” Clark said in response to a question from The Athletic’s James Boyd. “My name should not be used to further that claim.”

I asked #IndianaFever‘s Caitlin Clark directly addressed the way her name has been weaponized for racism and misogyny (as DiJonai Carrington alluded to).
