Model and reality TV star Kendall Jenner doesn’t always follow the latest trends. Instead, she chooses to create them.
On Saturday, June 15, the famous member of the Jenner-Kardashian clan posted a series of black-and-white photos to her Instagram highlighting her recent trip to Mallorca, where she showed off her Summer 2024 swimsuit looks.
Rather than fully committing to the tankini’s recent resurgence, stylists say the dress is a somewhat unexpected fashion comeback. Mickey Freeman While Carmen Electra may have started the trend in the ’90s, Jenner appears to have pioneered her own take on it, wearing a barely there string bikini with an equally tiny, beach-friendly wrap tied around the waist.
Jenner added a retro twist to the relaxed look with a vintage hair scarf and sunglasses.
Jenner’s string bikini was reminiscent of other two-piece suits she’s worn in previous Instagram posts, including one in which she showed off a bright green string bikini back in May. The model paired an affordable yet flattering Calzedonia detachable padded triangle top and bikini bottoms with a simple gold mega round welt bracelet, proving that the minimalist summer girl uniform also works for the beach.
Back in January, long before swimsuit season, Jenner made a case for the classic string bikini, firing up the imagination with a series of Instagram photos of models in coral deparelle micro-knit kinis.
That same month, Jenner shared more photos of the model lounging beachside, this time wearing a lime green handmade deparelle knit kini.
While Jenner seems to be singlehandedly defining swimwear trends for 2024, the tankini’s comeback is sure to be here to stay.
According to Freeman, Marie Claire In the past, tankinis were said to offer “many benefits for larger-breasted women, including being suitable for a heavier upper body type.”
“Also, longer tank tops and bottom coverings like briefs, shorts, and skirts provide more total body coverage,” Freeman added at the time. “This is a lot more appealing for people who don’t like skimpy swimwear.”
You can choose from a variety of cuts and fabrics, from minimalist tankinis to mid-rise, patterned, and one-shoulder tankinis… and as Jenner demonstrated, the same can be said for the iconic string bikini.
