KOLHAPUR: Farmer leader Raju Shetty’s Swabhimani Paksha, facing defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, has decided to adopt a different strategy for the upcoming state assembly elections. “We thought we could win state assembly seats on the basis of the farmers’ movement. But the results have proved us wrong. Going forward, we will adopt a more pragmatic approach by inviting other parties to help us win and vice versa. We will form alliances with understanding and strategic coordination,” Shetty said in an interview to TOI. Shetty also plans to galvanise the farmers’ movement around agrarian issues after the state convention to be held in Baramati on June 22-23. The preliminary meeting of the party’s state executive was held online, he said. In the 2019 state assembly elections, Swabhimani Paksha contested six seats.
