Toyota voluntarily recalls vehicles due to distorted images from front and rear cameras

Toyota has announced a voluntary recall of 13,000 2023 Crown vehicles in North America. According to the company, water may get into the front-view or rear-view camera casing, causing the camera to short out. This causes the driver’s front-view or rear-view camera image to not be displayed correctly. If the rear-view image is not displayed, this could increase the risk of hitting objects or injuring pedestrians while the vehicle is reversing, Toyota said in a press release.
Toyota will replace the cameras free of charge to drivers of affected vehicles, with notification letters expected by mid-August. Owners can contact Toyota customer support by calling the Toyota Brand Engagement Center at 1-800-331-4331.
