The United States men’s basketball team missed out on a medal at the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Manila, but they have a chance to redeem themselves at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The U.S. men’s basketball team is seeking a fifth consecutive Olympic gold medal, and with 12 NBA All-Stars, six NBA champions and four NBA MVPs on the Olympic roster, the U.S. is well placed.
Phoenix Suns All-Star Kevin Durant will lead the red, white and blue team. Durant, USA men’s basketball’s all-time Olympic leading scorer (435 points), will be competing in his fourth Olympic Games and could become the first men’s basketball player in Olympic history to win four gold medals if the U.S. wins in Paris.
Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James will be playing in his fourth Olympic Games, while Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry will be playing in his first.

Who is the head coach of USA Men’s Basketball?
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr will serve as head coach of the U.S. Men’s National Team in 2024. Mark Few (Gonzaga University), Tyronn Lue (Los Angeles Clippers) and Erik Spoelstra (Miami Heat) will serve as Kerr’s assistant coaches. Along with Few, Lue and Spoelstra, Kerr led the U.S. Men’s National Team to a fourth-place finish at the 2023 FIBA Men’s World Cup in Manila.
“My staff and I are honored to coach this great group of players as they strive to win an Olympic gold medal in Paris,” said Kerr, who served as an assistant coach on the 2020 U.S. Men’s National Team that won gold in Tokyo. “We intend to represent USA Basketball at the highest level and make our country proud.”
