‘Pakistan or India…’: Mohammed Rizwan on Haris Rauf and fan brawl | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: A video of Pakistan speedster Haris Rauf getting into a scuffle with a fan has gone viral on social media. Rauf was walking on a footpath with his wife when the fan reportedly hurled abuse at him over the team’s poor performance in the T20 World Cup.

In the video, an enraged Rauf can be seen running towards the fan and claiming that he is Indian, to which the fan replies that he is Pakistani. Three to four other fans intervene and stop Rauf from escalating the situation further.

After the video went viral, Rauf posted a message on social media saying he would not tolerate any abuse against him or his family.

Pakistan had a disappointing finish in Group A of the ongoing T20 World Cup, narrowly beating Ireland by three wickets in the final match on Sunday. They had previously lost to co-hosts USA and arch rivals India before a seven-wicket win over Canada.

Pakistan finished third in their group with four points from four matches, missing out on a place in the Super 8, while India and USA secured the top two spots and advanced.

Pakistan’s star opening batsman Mohammed Rizwan supported Rauf and said, “No one has the right to disrespect a human being.”

“It doesn’t matter whether the person who insulted Haris Rauf is from Pakistan or India. What really matters is that this person lacked values and manners,” Rizwan said on his social media handle.

“No one has the right to disrespect another human being, especially in front of their family. Such egregious behaviour must stop. Values like tolerance, respect and compassion are becoming increasingly rare,” he said.

Rauf and five other players, including Pakistan captain Babar Azam, Mohammed Amir, Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan and Azam Khan, decided to holiday in London before flying home to Pakistan after their disastrous defeat in the T20 World Cup.

The players mentioned above will be spending time with friends and family in London.
