British voters will have the chance to elect the world’s first AI parliamentarian in the upcoming election. Businessman Steve Endacott is standing as an independent candidate in the UK general election on July 4, and his campaign will feature an AI-generated avatar called “AI Steve.”
Steve Endacott, 59, who runs Neural Voice, is launching a new political party that plans to recruit more AI candidates across the country, and this election marks the start of that effort.
The Electoral Commission made it clear that if AI’s Steve were to win, Endacott would become the Member of Parliament (MP) rather than AI.
Here are some facts about AI Steve:

2. Steve Endacott calls AI Steve “an eco-capitalist with a conscience who’s fed up with traditional politics.” The avatar can even “dodge questions like a real politician.”

4. AI Steve, powered by Neural Voice, will engage in real-time conversations with voters on a range of issues, including LGBTQ rights, housing, trash collection, the Israel-Hamas war, bike lanes, immigration, and more. He will present policy ideas and solicit feedback from the public.
