WILBRAHAM, Mass. (WWLP) – Two local inline speed skaters are preparing for a new milestone in their competitive careers.
Sadhna Ganesan and Jaylin Godin will represent the United States at the World Championships in Italy this September.
Both girls train at Interskate 91 South in Wilbraham, the only competitive inline speed skating rink in all of New England, and as members of the top team in the country, they train 20 hours a week.
22News spoke with the skaters during practice on Wednesday, who said the work isn’t done yet, but they’re looking forward to a long-awaited dream.
“I skate every day, just taking one day off a week and trying to skate twice a day,” Sadhna said.
“This is my first time here, and being in Italy, I really wanted to go as an experience,” said Jaylin. “I’m going with friends, but it’s all about the competition because we’re racing and representing the United States.”
The girls’ coach told 22News that their drive and hard work have gotten them to where they are today. Whether they’re practicing on the streets of a city, in front of a school or at the rink, at the end of the day, they’re all about trying, win or lose.

The girls told 22News that they run 10 miles one way, and 10 miles round trip, every day before school. 22News wishes them the best of luck as they prepare for the World Championships!
