The US cricket team’s dream winning streak continues.
The United States cricket team has advanced to the Super 8, the second stage of the ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup 2024, with wins over Canada and Pakistan and a point in a match against Ireland that was cancelled due to heavy rain in Fort Lauderdale.
The Super 8 stage of the tournament will see the eight teams split into two groups of four, with the top two from each group advancing to the semi-finals later this month. The United States, which is in the same group as England, the West Indies and South Africa, will face South Africa in its opening match of the Super 8 stage on Wednesday.
South Africa are ranked fifth in the ICC’s latest T20 rankings but have never reached a final and are bidding to qualify for their first T20 World Cup.
The U.S. Cricket Team’s advancement to the group stage also automatically qualifies them for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, to be hosted by India and Sri Lanka in 2026. Teams will also receive increased prize money, with all teams that advance to the Super 8 guaranteed a minimum of $382,500, according to a USA Cricket press release.
U.S. cricket team vice-captain Aaron Jones said at the post-match press conference last Friday that the U.S. qualifying to play in the Super 8s was “a big thing for us.”
“We’ve been talking about going to the World Cup for the last few years and playing more games with former member nations,” Jones said, “and now we’re making it happen. To get to the Super 8s is really fantastic. It’s a big thing for us.”
“And not just us, [for] “I’d also like to thank my fans across America,” he added. “I’m really grateful.”

When is the US Super 8 tournament?
The United States will face South Africa on Wednesday, June 19 at 10:30 a.m. ET at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua.
The USA won the toss and elected to bat first, with South Africa setting them a target of 195 runs.
How to get ICC T20 World Cup match tickets
Tickets for the South Africa vs USA match can be purchased on the official T20 World Cup website, with ticket prices ranging from $12 for grass and mound to $475 for the Club VVIP Experience.
Tickets for the match will also be available for purchase on third-party websites such as Stubhub at a range of prices.

The match will be streamed exclusively on WillowTV but will also be available on streamers such as Fubo and Sling.
Fans can also stream the match on different devices via the Cricbuzz app and live scores will be available on the Cricbuzz website.
Scorecards, match highlights and behind-the-scenes footage will also be available to fans on ICC.tv, while live radio commentary from the BBC will be available on the ICC website and app.
