Struggling batsman Ahmad Shahzad has urged Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) president Mohsin Raza Naqvi to take “drastic measures” to strengthen the team. Pakistan performed poorly in the T20 World Cup 2024 and were eliminated in the group stage. Days after the elimination, the Pakistan batsman suggested that the PCB chairman needs to revamp the squad going forward.

“Everything is based on facts and has been proven by Pakistan’s poor performance. Now it is your turn to take drastic steps for the betterment of Pakistan cricket. You will be remembered as heroes for life,” Shahzad wrote to X.

Shahzad said the decision should be taken on merit to prevent players from going against the administration. “If you do not take the decision on merit, the current players will go against you like they have done against other cricket association presidents in the past. They have gone against the previous presidents, the administration and are trying to bring us down but we will stand firm,” the Pakistan opener said.

He added that if the right decisions are taken, the PCB chairman will be remembered as a national hero. “If you take the right decisions, the people will always appreciate you and you will see good results. We will ensure that the people remember and do not let them forget your efforts. This is your chance to become a champion for all time,” Shahzad concluded.

The Pakistan batsman’s post garnered support from fans, with many agreeing with his words. One fan wrote, “It’s true that Pakistan cricket needs a complete overhaul! Without it we won’t go anywhere! Mohsin Naqvi needs to take action immediately!”

“I totally agree. It’s time for Mohsin Naqvi to take action and do something good for Pakistan cricket,” said another.

“It is true that Pakistan cricket needs a complete overhaul. Without that there will be no progress. Mohsin Naqvi must act immediately,” one added.

“I totally agree. It’s time for coach Mohsin Naqvi to realise how poorly his team is performing,” wrote another.
