A fire broke out in Lancaster County Monday afternoon, destroying a business. The fire started around 2:45 p.m. at Wenger Woodwork in the 800 block of Fairview Road in Lafo Township near Manheim. The owner said the fire started in a dust collector. Winds made it difficult for firefighters as they tried to keep the flames from spreading to other nearby buildings. Heat was also an issue. The fire grew to a second alarm and more personnel were dispatched to the scene. “The heat and fire loads are going to burn us out quickly. The extra manpower allowed us to rotate personnel and not overtax certain personnel,” said Deputy Chief Ian Naumann with the Manheim Fire Department. No injuries have been reported. “The heat and the heavy fire load can quickly burn out crews, so having extra manpower allows us to rotate crews and not put too much strain on certain crews,” said Manheim Fire Department Deputy Chief Ian Naumann.
No injuries were reported.
