The internet is full of food videos, everything from exotic recipes to people exploring unique cuisines from around the world, but one video recently sparked outrage among social media users.

An American blogger went on a street food adventure in Lahore, Pakistan, sampling some of the most popular dishes, and shockingly, while he claims to be on a mission to deliberately give himself food poisoning, social media users are not impressed.

Many criticized the blogger for his disrespectful attitude towards Pakistan. After he shared the video on Instagram, it went viral and has been viewed over 1 million times.

“I’m going to eat street food until I get food poisoning. I’m currently in Lahore, Pakistan and I’m going to walk around and try as many weird things as I can,” the traveller says before moving on with his mission. Starting with halwa, the blogger also samples lassi and pakora in the video.

Sharing the video, the content creator captioned it, “Pakistan is one of my favourite places to enjoy food. My favourite day of my trip to Pakistan was wandering the narrow walled streets of Lahore. Although I didn’t make it into the video, most of the food was gifted as a token of hospitality. Pakistanis are some of the friendliest people in the world. Also, I’m going to a country in a few days where there is no street food, so this series will be on a break for a week or so. Anyway, I’m really happy with how it turned out and I hope you all enjoy it.”

Responding to the post, one user joked: “The weirdest thing is seeing yourself in the mirror. If you’re going to insult people’s lifestyle for internet points then don’t travel to those places.”

Another person wondered, “Why would white people do this?”

“He’ll eventually achieve super saiyan level immunity lol,” the comment read.

Another wrote: “Wow, I’m shocked. Isn’t it amazing how you can say on the mic that you’re scared and think your food is going to be poisoned for ratings, yet still put a smile on the faces of locals?”

One person said: “This is such disrespect for the culture. Halwa and lassi are the most delicious desserts and drinks and he thinks he’ll get food poisoning just because he’s never seen them.”
