Panama vs. USA: Predictions
Bleacher Report: USMNT 2, Panama 0
Joe Tansey wrote: “Panama will be a tougher opponent than Bolivia, as this team has more talent than the South Americans and is fresh off a 3-1 loss to Uruguay, but some chaos in the final five minutes saw the U.S. draw 1-0. But the U.S. will control the game and have the better chances throughout the 90 minutes. Berhalter will either start Pepi to reward his second-half performance against Bolivia, or Balogun will move up top and hope he can be more lethal in front of goal. Regardless of who starts at striker, Pulisic will be the key to the U.S. attack. He was the catalyst for Sunday’s fast start, giving the U.S. an early lead with a sublime shot.”
FanDuel: USA has 53% chance of winning
The staff wrote: “Massey Ratings’ power ratings rank the U.S. 18th overall and Panama 41st. Massey’s game model gives the U.S. a 53% chance of winning and finishing with a 2-0-0 record in the Copa America 2024 group stage.”
Cover: USA to score over 2.5 goals
Jason Enns wrote, “Seven of Panama’s last nine official matches have seen three or more goals scored, including a 3-0 loss to Mexico and a 3-1 loss to Uruguay. The Bolivia match was Panama’s second consecutive official clean sheet, but they have only seen three or fewer goals scored in three of their last nine official matches. Panama has not performed well in the United States, having conceded 15 goals in their last four visits. The U.S. will want to pile on the points to catch Uruguay, but they will also be a bit more of a threat to the Uruguayan defense. All of these factors should lead to at least three goals being scored on Thursday night.”
Fox Sports: America Wins
“Based on the moneyline, we expect the U.S. to win this match with a 73.0% chance of winning,” the staff wrote.
