With the United States Men’s National Team suffering a shocking defeat on Thursday and their Copa America hopes in serious jeopardy, let’s quickly list the expected low scores: Tim Weah’s shocking calls (especially in the VAR era) unsurprisingly earned him the lowest score of the match, 1.27, followed closely by referee Ivan Burton (2.26), who lost control of the game, and Gregg Berhalter (2.63), whose job could be in jeopardy if the underdog USA Men’s National Team doesn’t advance past the group stage by beating a better Uruguay side on Monday night.
However, there was at least one outstanding performance that SSFC voters did not miss, selecting goal scorer Folarin Balogun as SSFC’s Man of the Match. Balogun’s goal was a bright spot for the fans on loan and he deserved the award. Christian Pulisic and Antonee Robinson were the only other players with six points or more, with most players, including substitutes, scoring five points or less.
