The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced its candidates for the biennial Maharashtra state assembly elections on July 1.

Former state minister Pankaja Munde, who lost the Beed Lok Sabha seat to NCP (SP)’s Bajrang Sonwane in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections, has also been named as the party’s candidate for the upcoming elections. The other BJP candidates are Yogesh Tillekar, Dr Parinay Phuke, Amit Goleke and Sadhava Kot.

The election will take place on July 12th, with the vote counting scheduled to begin on the same day.

The biennial elections for 11 state assembly seats will be a key test for the ruling Mahayuti and the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) ahead of state assembly elections scheduled for later this year.
