As a pet owner, I know how frightening it can be when your furry friend goes missing.

Fireworks and loud noises, especially around the Fourth of July, can often scare pets away. Microchipping is a great way to increase the chances of finding a lost pet, but it doesn’t always mean you’ll be reunited right away. That’s where Fido Alert comes in.

Fido Alert (for dogs) and Tabby Alert (for cats) are innovative pet collar tags that use QR codes.
The tag was invented by pet shop owner John Bradford and is designed to help reunite lost pets with their owners.
An enthusiast who wanted to create a more efficient way to find lost animals.

“Years ago I wondered why there wasn’t a quicker process to connect pet owners with their pet owners.
“How do I care for a lost pet?” Bradford said. That’s when the idea for the tag came to him.

Here’s how it works: When you sign up for a Fido or Tabby tag, you enter some key information
Information about your pet, such as name, breed, physical characteristics, and identifying features.
You can also add photos of your pets.

Enter email addresses and phone numbers for up to 10 emergency contacts.
Once you find your pet, simply scan the tag’s QR code with your smartphone, which will send a text message to your emergency contacts letting them know your pet has been found.

“We collected their names and phone numbers and texted them to all 10 people, and they all
You get a text message right away,” Bradford explains. “You call the person and they say, ‘Yeah.
“We’ll say, ‘We have your dog,’ and we’ll make the arrangements and pick up the dog or cat.”

One of the best things about Fido Alert is that it doesn’t require an app or special software.
All you need is a smartphone with a QR code scanner.

Another feature of the Fido and Tabby Alert tags and network is a sort of “Amber Alert” for pets.
People who lose their dogs or cats can enter their information on the Fido Alert website.
Notify them of your animal’s last known location: “We go out three miles from that location and text everyone in our network a link to your pet’s flyer,” Bradford says. “That’s why it’s important to keep adding people to your network. If you’re in the middle of Wichita, Kansas, there are people in Wichita who are signed up, but not everyone. The more people you have in your network, the more people can get the text message.”
“The dog is running away.”

Fido Alert tags are not a replacement for microchips, but they are a simpler and more
You can quickly get in touch with someone who finds your lost pet.

“The problem with microchips is that people who find stray dogs
“We’ll put stray dogs in our car and take them to the vet or to a shelter,” Bradford said.

FidoAlert allows spotters to contact pet owners directly by scanning a QR code. Bradford said he’s not trying to make big bucks from FidoAlert and TabbyAlert.
network, and the company does not sell data to Chewy, PetCo or other pet stores.
The same goes for monthly service fees.

Registration is free, tags are about $5. When I registered, another user said they “paid.”
I said, “Forward it to me,” and they offered to buy the tag for me, I just had to pay a small amount for shipping.

Highly recommended if you are looking for extra protection for your dog
Check out Fido Alert, a simple, affordable and effective way to
Find your lost pet quickly and safely.
