Joe Biden reportedly told a group of Democratic governors they need to work less and sleep more, as he and the White House fight back against suggestions that he should end his reelection campaign.
The president also reportedly told governors he intended to continue campaigning while explaining his recent international travels, just weeks before his disastrous debate performance in which he lost his train of thought, his voice cracked and he made multiple gaffes.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump posted a video to Truth Social falsely claiming that the embattled president has already dropped out of the race for the White House, calling him a “broken motherfucker” and mocking Vice President Kamala Harris as “pathetic.”
“I’m not going anywhere,” President Biden emphasized to a White House audience at a Fourth of July Independence Day event, explaining the importance of the 2024 election: “We have to look at ourselves and ask ourselves: Are we going to stand up for freedom again? Are we going to stand up for democracy?”

“My friends, this is about democracy. This is about freedom. This is about who we are.”
“Enjoy the fireworks,” he said before leaving the stage, as the crowd yelled, “Four more years!”

Biden criticizes Trump at White House Independence Day event
President Biden delivered a brief address to military families outside the White House on Thursday, noting his recent visit to Normandy to mark the anniversary of the Normandy landings and making a case for democracy at home and abroad.
At one point he criticized Trump, saying, “I was in a World War I cemetery in France and … the former president didn’t want to go there. I probably shouldn’t have said that.”
“Anyway,” he continued, “we have to remember who we are. We are the United States of America.”

Biden warns of Trump’s ‘monarchy’ on July 4th
The aftermath of Biden’s debate performance has clearly been a welcome distraction for Donald Trump and his campaign, directing media attention away from his string of incomprehensible public statements, questions about his mental state, and his out-of-control policy of calling for a “televised military tribunal” against a former female congressman just days earlier.
For his part, he has kept a relatively low profile and seems content to allow his Democratic rivals to gamble on his political future.
Now Biden is hoping to use the Fourth of July holiday to turn the debate around.

If Biden withdraws, does Kamala Harris have what it takes to beat Trump?
Harris, the first woman, first African American and first Asian American to hold the nation’s second-highest office, has struggled with sagging approval ratings and a policy portfolio that tackles politically tricky issues, including the root causes of the migration crisis that has brought hundreds of thousands of migrants to the U.S. in recent years.
But she has increased her profile on the world stage over the past three years — most recently attending Ukraine peace talks in Switzerland last month — and has become the administration’s most visible messenger on reproductive freedom in the wake of the Supreme Court ruling. Dobbs The ruling signals the end of a half-century of federal abortion rights, and Harris has been traveling the country on her “Reproductive Freedom Tour,” hitting events packed with women and minority voters.

Fancams and coconut trees: Kamala Harris memes are reviving the KHive
The internet fell from the coconut tree.
The online grassroots stan culture army known as the KHive, a group of fervent supporters who stoked online outrage and fanaticism when Harris entered the 2020 presidential race, was resurrected overnight. Now, Americans are rapidly becoming addicted to coconut pills, and Kamala Max “exists in context” and is “free from the burdens of what has been.”
