In the recent UK general election, the Labour Party won a landslide victory over Rishi Sunak’s Conservative Party, after which UK Chancellor Rishi Sunak conceded defeat.

The British Labour Party has surpassed the 326-seat threshold needed to win a majority in the House of Commons. Keir Starmer will become the next Prime Minister of the UK.

British Chancellor Rishi Sunak, as quoted by the news agency, conceded defeat. Ani“Labour has won this general election and I have called Keir Starmer to congratulate him on the victory. Today there will be a peaceful, orderly and goodwill transfer of power. … I take responsibility for the defeat of the many excellent, hard-working Conservative candidates who were defeated tonight, despite their tireless work, local track record and commitment to their communities. I am sorry. I will now fly to London to say more about tonight’s results before leaving the job of Prime Minister to which I have given all my heart.”

Following Rishi Sunak’s defeat, internet users took to social media to express their reactions.

Here are some examples:

One person wrote: “At least I have a memorable legacy as the biggest loser in political history.”

Meanwhile, Larry the Cat wrote on X: “Rishi Sunak has tendered his resignation to the King but Keir Starmer is yet to be appointed Chancellor. So who’s to blame? It’s me.”

Notably, Sunak is the son-in-law of Sudha Murthy and Narayana Murthy.

“If we want to compete with the fastest growing countries like China and Japan, we need to increase labor productivity. Right now, labor productivity in India is very low. The government also needs to reduce decision-making times and curb corruption in the bureaucracy,” Infosys founder Narayana Murthy said in a conversation with CFO Mohandas Pai in 2023. “Young people need to work at least 70 hours a week,” he added.

His comments sparked controversy online and even a global debate.
